Shanelle: What does breast cancer mean to you?
Posted October 13, 2017
Our office manager and patient care coordinator, Shanelle, explains what breast cancer means to her.
It means my great-grandmother passed away from this dreaded disease. It means one of my
aunts and one of my closest friends battled and beat it! It also means I get to meet women on a
weekly basis who join our Bellissimo family and inspire me. They inspire me to keep up on my
own breast health and prevention, inspire me to never sweat the small stuff, and they force me
to appreciate this precious life I’ve been given.
Breast Cancer touches almost everyone in some capacity….in fact, there are almost 3 million women living with breast cancer in the United States. Breast cancer is the two words no woman ever wants to hear.
The women in my life that I have watched go through their own individual journeys have displayed strength, determination, persistence, stamina, and hope. As we all now celebrate October and Breast Cancer Awareness month I encourage you all to honor those who have lost their lives to this awful disease and celebrate the survivors!
